FOLLOWING a twin encounter between government troops and the members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental over the weekend, another body of a suspected rebel was found in the city yesterday, October 31.

Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, said that the body of Marlon Albino, “Alyas Max” of Sitio Nabanwagan in the city’s Barangay Trinidad was discovered by a resident about 300 meters away from the encounter site at Barangay Buenavista.

Military records showed that Albino is a member of Sentro De Grabedad Platoon of the Central Negros (CN) 1, Komiteng Rehiyon- Negros, Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor.

On Saturday, soldiers from the 62nd Infantry "Unifier" Battalion (IB) encountered the members of CN1 at the hinterlands of Barangay Planas at about 3:30 p.m. while another gunfight erupted between the groups seven hours later at Barangay Buenavista.

A day after the battle, the body of Michael Asuncion, “Ka Raymond,” of Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental was recovered, the military reported.

Soldiers recovered from the encounter site were a 12-gauge shotgun, a .45 caliber pistol, a hand grenade, two handheld radios, two backpacks with personal belongings, and subversive documents.

As this developed, another encounter took place last night in Guihulngan although no further details were released to the media yet.

Pasaporte stressed that the results of the recent successive encounters are clear manifestations that the CTG cannot any more deceive and gain support from the people of Central Negros.

The 62nd IB troopers will tirelessly hunt the remaining CTG members to free the people from their terroristic acts and extortion activities.

The 62IB leadership is calling on the NPAs, especially those wounded personalities to surrender peacefully, lay down their firearms, and go back to the folds of law and to be treated with proper medication.
