Dear Dr. Fritz,

Good day. Please call me Martha. I am already in my senior year. At this point, I can feel that my joints are against me. Can you please recommend to me some supplements for joint pains?

Thanks and more power!

===================

Dear Martha Senior,

I love giving supplements for joint pains because in my medical practice, I see it work and my patients love them. Here are some on the list:

1. Glucosamine

This is an amino sugar that is a natural part of the cartilage in your joints. It can help slow down cartilage loss, along with stiffness, swelling, and pain.

2. Chondroitin

This is a natural part of the connective tissue in your bones and cartilage. It can help improve the collagen in your joints and your joints will be able to absorb shock a lot better. This is glucosamine’s partner.

3. Fish Oil/Omega-3s

These bar proteins and fatty acids from causing inflammation and turned them into anti-inflammatory chemicals known as resolvins, which helps joint stiffness and tenderness.

4. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)

This is naturally present in fruits, vegetables, grains, animals, and humans and makes your body produce connective tissue. A dose of 1,000 to 3,000 mg or more every day can help ease the pains and swelling of knee osteoarthritis.

5. Vitamin D

Studies have shown that those who have rheumatoid arthritis have low levels of vitamin D and deficiency of this necessary nutrient may give way to chronic pains.

6. Turmeric

The curcumin in turmeric deters certain proteins that can lead to inflammation. And taking this can relieve joint pains.

Opps..we are out of space for now. Let us continue this in my next episode. Until then!
