City gov’t starts donation drive for victims of Paeng

THE city government of Davao has organized a donation drive to help families affected by tropical storm Paeng.

On October 31, 2022, the City Government of Davao announced that they will be accepting donations from Dabawenyos who would like to extend help to affected families in Maguindanao, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Tawi-Tawi, Sulu, Cotabato City, Zamboanga City, and the municipalities of Sirawai in Zamboanga del Norte, as well as in Albay, Aklan and in the Island Garden City of Samal.

Dabawenyos may send their donations to the assigned drop-off areas.

The first drop-off site will be in Rizal Park (Beside Davao City Hall). It will start accepting donations on October 31 to November 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The contact person for this site is Cheryl Sumalinog who can be reached at 09326370315.

The second drop-off point is at the Task Force Davao HQ, Sta. Ana Wharf, Davao City. Donations will be accepted on October 31 to November 5, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Dabawenyos may contact the point person, Bob Bulaclac at 0963 261 8484.

The city government said Dabawenyos may donate the following items; food (ready to eat), bottled water, hygiene kits, sleeping materials (banig, blanket), utensils, candies, and toys (for psychosocial intervention for children).

They may also donate the following medicines; cefuroxime 500mg tabs, co-amoxiclav 625mg/1gm tab cefixime 200mg cap, clindamycin 300mg cam, losartan 50/100mg tab, amlodipine 5/10mg tab, metformin 500mg tab, antibiotic ointment, mefenamic acid 500mg cap, celecoxib 200/400mg, metformin 500mg tab, metoclopramide tab, calmoseptine cream, tetanus toxoid, cefuroxime 250mg/5ml susp, co-amoxiclav 250mg/112.5/5ml susp, metoclopramide syrup, salbutamol syrup, nebulizer, nebulizing kit, and salbutamol nebule.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) stated in a situational report that the effects of Paeng affected 1,953,814 people, or 590,990 families, in 5,108 barangays across the country.

The damage to infrastructure, which includes hospitals, government offices, schools, and churches, was estimated to be over P757 million while the damage to agriculture increased to over P435 million from the initial estimate of P55 million. KSD
