IT WILL be a busy weekend for Philippine boxing overseas as three Pinoy pugs are seeing action in three different countries.
Jerald Palcar takes on his stiffest test to date against former world champion Khalid Yafai at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 5.
Palcar is coming off a second round knockout win over Jenuel Lauza last April 30 in Bukidnon. Palcar is just one of three fighters that has beaten former International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight champion Rene Mark Cuarto.
Yafai is making a comeback following a two-year and eight-month hiatus. He last saw action on Feb. 29, 2020 in Frisco, California in a title defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight strap. He was dethroned by Nicaraguan superstar Roman Gonzalez, who stopped him in nine rounds. Yafai held the WBA title for three years and had five successful title defenses.
Palcar is 16-5-3 with nine knockouts, while Yafai is 26-1 with 15 knockouts.
Meanwhile, Kevin Aseniero locks horns with Dana Coolwell at the Fortitude Music Hall in Fortitude Valley, Australia.
Aseniero is eager to bounce back after losing to Thattana Luangphon in a World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council super bantamweight title fight last Aug. 27 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Coolwell is fresh from a fourth round knockout of Lorenz Ladrada last July 2 in Broadbeach, Australia.
Aseniero is 10-4-1 with four knockouts, while Coolwell is 8-2 with six knockouts.
On the other hand, Jhon Gimeno trades leathers with Kanta Fukui on Nov. 6 at the Edion Arena in Osaka, Japan.
Gemino lost his last fight in Japan after losing to Hayato Tsutsumi by unanimous decision last July 13 in Tokyo.
Fukui is also coming off a defeat after a sixth round stoppage in the hands of Narumi Yukawa in Tokyo last Jan. 11.
Gemino is 23-14-1 with 13 knockouts, while Fukui is 8-5-1 with six knockouts.
