Ryan Kuhn’s ghost, The Jackal, is the eleventh in Black Zodiac featured in “Thir13en Ghosts.” Ryan Kuhn, born to a prostitute in 1887, had an insatiable, uncontrollable taste for women. He became a wild, cunning sexual predator who attacked, raped, and murdered strays and prostitutes at night. Cyrus Kriticos captured Ryan’s spirit after his death turning him into The Jackal.
Sadako Yamamura in “The Ring” (2001)
Sadako Yamamura, aka Park Eun-suh and Samara Morgan, is the main antagonist of Koji Suzuki’s “Ring” novel series and film franchise of the same name and is one of the most iconic horror villains in film history. In the films, Sadako can cause heart attacks by revealing her malformed eye. Her presence can drive people to commit suicide or cause instant death, even without showing her eye.
The Creeper in “Jeepers Creepers” (2001)
For those unfamiliar with the “Jeepers Creepers” film series, The Creeper is the series’ primary antagonist. For 23 days every 23rd spring, he feasts on human flesh as an ancient demonic creature.
Every 23 years, the Creeper appears to be unstoppable as he eats his victims’ body parts. When Darry Jenner first came across its self-portraits, he assumed it was a demon worshipper. At first glance, The Creeper appears quite human, despite its habit of donning a tattered black Trench coat and a hat after its previous owner was murdered. Its mouth is stuffed with yellow fangs, and it has wispy white hair. Its skin is dark reptilian green. A membrane connects a group of fingers-like appendages that encircle its head.
The Shoulder Spirit in ”Shutter” (2004)
The Ghost of Natre is the film’s main antagonist. After her father died, her mom raised her. Natre was shy and lonely before meeting Tun in photography class. Tun ended the relationship abruptly and didn’t tell his friends. Tun’s friends’ gang-raped her, and he did nothing. On his friends’ orders, he photographed the assault to blackmail her if she told anyone. Natre began to haunt Tun by being a ghost on his shoulders, a perfect metaphor for how heavy the guilt he felt for not helping Natre.
Ingchan in “Coming Soon” (2008)
Ingchan is the main antagonist of the 2008 Rhai film “Coming Soon.” She is a demonic ghost that haunts theatres using her “movie” as conduit and kills her victims.
Mirror Demon in “Mirrors” (2008)
In the horror film “Mirrors,” which was released in 2008, the Mirror Demon serves as the primary antagonist. In the time before the movie’s events, it possessed a young woman named Anna Esseker, but it was driven out of her and imprisoned in mirrors. Anna explains that the entity can collect the souls of those it kills and that if she were to return, it would make it possible for the demon to be brought back into the world of the living. She is adamant about not going back.
Mr. Boogie in “Sinister” (2012)
Bagul, also referred to as Buhguul and Mr. Boogie, is the primary antagonist of the horror film “Sinister,” which was released in 2012, as well as its sequel, “Sinister 2,” which was released in 2015. He is an ancient Babylonian pagan deity who is responsible for consuming the souls of young human beings. One of the most terrifying “villains” is not found in big films, but in a short film titled “Man on a Train” released in 2018 on YouTube. The short film does not have ghosts, darkness, blood, or even a jump scare, but it gives an absolute level of discomfort and disturbance to the viewers. A different level of actual fear that proves humans making inhuman movements can be scarier than ghosts or gore.
