AS the Department of Education implements full-blown face-to-face classes in Davao Region, the Davao City Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) has deployed its Civil Security Guard (CSG) in all schools in the city to ensure the safety of the students and the teachers.

“Ilabi na ang pagsulod kay naay mga dalan diha nga busy kaayo sa sakyanan (Especially near the entrance of the schools because the streets can be busy with vehicles),” PSSO Head Angel Sumagaysay said.

Sumagaysay said there is at least one deployed CSG in every school in Davao City.

“Mao ni ang mandate ni dating Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte nga at least a minimum of one CSG kada-eskwelahan (This is the mandate of the former Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte that there should be at least one CSG per school),” he said.

Sumagaysay said they also consider the size and population of the school and how many CSGs they are going to deploy.

“Mas daghan CSG kung mas dako ang population (There should be more CSGs if they have a big population),” he said.

Sumagaysay said they also provide CSGs in newly established schools.

However, Sumagaysay admitted that they still need more manpower to cover all the schools and institutions in the city.

“Kung tan-awon nimo tanang request, kulang gyud siya, kay ongoing ang pagtukod sa mga schools na wala pa nadeployan (If you’re going to check the requests we have received, we really need more manpower especially that there are schools that are being constructed right now),” Sumagaysay said.

He said instead of deploying 10 to 15 CSGs to the Davao City National High School, they only deployed four.

“Considering nga shifting pud ning DCNHS ug kadako sa school and population, kulang siya, sa Sta. Ana dako pud na siya (Considering the school population of DCNHS, which resulted in the school holding classes in shifts, our manpower is not enough, even for Sta. AAna [high school], which is also a big school),” Sumagaysay said.

He said to cover the lack of manpower, they have a deployment scheme. He added they already requested for the hiring of more CSG. KSD
