No food trip is complete without having dessert.

Luckily for those with a thirst for adventure and a sweet tooth to boot, Jj’s Halo-Halo and Desserts serves treats beyond what is expected of Filipino favorites. Some desserts look and taste beyond one’s imagination. The place offers a range of incredible creations, from its simple yet perfect halo-halo to its visually pleasing “turon”—fried banana rolls with caramelized sugar and cloud-like cotton candy on top.

Even if you’re not a fan of desserts, the amazing twists here might just change your mind.

Nestled inside Talamban Times Square in Cebu City, Jj’s Halo-Halo and Desserts pops with its pastel-colored interior and artistically created, dessert-shaped neon lights.

From the moment people enter the dessert shop, they will know that they are in for a sweet treat. It’s like walking into a dessert museum.

As for its offerings, one will never see prettier S’mores, mango float and turon than the ones here. Its Nutella S’mores are not the usual ones with toasted marshmallows and a layer of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of Graham crackers. It has “clouds” on top made of cotton candy and ice cream; a chocolate covered pretzel stick serves as the clouds’ stand.

Just like its Nutella S’mores, the mango float called Mango Marie has clouds on top, too. Its recipe was inherited from the owner’s mother.

Its turon is inspired by the turon that went viral months ago—the one served in one of the most expensive resorts in the Philippines. True to its name “Golden Turon,” it is covered with gold rum flambeed butter caramel sauce topped with vanilla ice cream and gold flakes as garnish.

Another must-try here include its bubble waffle filled with fresh fruits, ice cream, chocolate covered pretzel sticks, and drizzles with three flavors to choose from: Oreos and Cream, Strawberry Dream and Mango Caramel.

For its halo-halo, Jj’s Halo-Halo and Desserts has its own special ice mixture—perfectly blended with enough level of sweetness and topped with the classic colorful halo-halo ingredients minus the red beans. A spoonful presents contrasting textures from creamy, chewy to crunchy—just the way Cebuanos like it.

What’s best about Jj’s Halo-Halo and Desserts is that one can order his dessert and eat it at Migag Unlimited Samgyupsal right beside.

Jj’s Halo-Halo and Desserts is located on the second level of Talamban Times Square and is open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
