Lacson off to Australia; Ferrer is acting governor

VICE Governor Jeffrey Ferrer will be designated as acting governor of Negros Occidental starting today, November 5 until November 11.

Provincial Administrator Reyfrando Diaz II said Ferrer will be temporarily in-charge of the province while Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is on official travel to Darwin City, Australia.

Diaz said Negros Occidental Third District Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko will sit as acting vice governor.

He said while in Australia, Lacson will be meeting the province’s job placement and training partners.

The governor will also have a courtesy call with Mayor Kon Vatskalis of Darwin City and the country’s ministers of tourism, education and disaster, among others, Diaz added.

“He will also take time to check the conditions of the working students (from Negros Occidental) in Australia and see to it that their welfare are taken care of,” the provincial administrator noted.

Aside from Diaz, travelling with the governor are Negros Occidental Language and Informtation Technology Center head Tina Orbecido, provincial scholarship program head Karen Dinsay and provincial tourism officer Cheryl Decena.

Also included in the governor’s party to Darwin City are Project Development Officer of the Provincial Administrator office Bell Plotena, who is in-charge of the disaster risk reduction and public information officer Charina Magallanes.
