THE Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) recognized police personnel and police stations in the province for their outstanding performance during the 121st Police Service Anniversary on Thursday, November 3, 2022.
Lieutenant Colonel Dennis de Guzman of the Toledo City Police Station was named Best Junior Police Commission Officer (PCO) for Administration while Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes was named Best Junior PCO for Operations.
Chief Master Sergeant Dante Hilo was named Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) for Administration while Master Sergeant Mark Pateño was named Best Senior PNCO for Operations.
Senior Staff Sergeant Jonathan Monterde was named Best Junior PNCO for Administration while Senior Staff Sergeant Laarni Cabatana was named Best Junior PNCO for Operation.
Clint Edward Laurente was named Best Non-Uniformed Personnel.
Among the police stations, the Bogo City Police Station was named Best Component City Police Station while the Barili Municipal Police Station was named Best Class A and B Municipal Police Station.
The Moalboal Municipal Police Station was named Best Class C Municipal Police Station while the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company was named Best Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Included in the Top Performing Police Stations in the Philippine National Police (PNP) flagship program was the Talisay City Police Station, which was selected as Best Component City Police Station, and the Minglanilla Police Station, which was selected as the Best Class A and B Municipal Police Station. The Compostela Police Station was the Best Class C Municipal Police Station.
This year’s theme was “Matibay na Ugnayan ng Pulisya at Mamamayan, Tungo sa Pagkakaisa, Kapayaoaan at Kaunlaran (Strong Relations between Police and Citizens Towards Unity, Peace and Development).”
CPPO Director Colonel Rommel Ochave said they will continue to strictly implement the law and programs of the Police Regional Office Central Visayas by pursuing criminals and trying to reduce crime, as well as support Governor Gwendolyn Garcia’s declaration of an all-out war against illegal drugs.
“I encourage every PNP personnel to remain true to your sworn duty and never think twice about going the extra mile for us to achieve our three basic objectives for peace and order, which is reduce crimes reduce the fear of crime and reduce disorder,” Ochave said.
Meanwhile, National Police Commission Officer-in-Charge Risty Sibay praised the current police force compared to the police force in the 1960s when it was under the supervision of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
During that time, the community feared them because of various incidents of human rights violations, he said. This changed when Republic Act 4864, or The Police Act of 1966, was passed.
From the Police Constabulary-Integrated National Police, the PNP was formed. The government’s goal and intention were to increase the organization’s integrity.
“On a positive note, the police at present are performing a completely different role and are actually performing better,” Sibay said. (AYB)
