THE City Government of Zamboanga has increased burial assistance to indigents to P12,000.
This, as the Sangguniang Panlungsod presided by Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja recently approved Ordinance 586 increasing the burial assistance from P6,000 to P12,000 per indigent beneficiary in the city.
Mayor John Dalipe has earlier declared the Ordinance 586 as urgent.
Vice Mayor Pinpin Pareja affixed her signature on the Ordinance for its submission to the Office of the Mayor.
Under Ordinance 586, the City Government will directly pay to the chosen funeral parlor the amount of P8,000 for funeral services or for a burial space at the designated burial ground at the Zamboanga City Public Cemetery.
Pareja said that the remaining P4,000 shall be given to the immediate family of the deceased for burial needs.
For indigents belonging to the Islam faith the 12,000 burial assistance will be given in cash directly to the immediate family. (SunStar Zamboanga)
