DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) re-activates Oplan Davao Defense System (DDS) in strategic areas in Davao City after another bombing incident happened in Sultan Kudarat to ensure the safety of passengers and bus drivers.

“Atong gipahugtan atoang mga checkpoints labi na ang atoang mga borders pasulod sa Davao (We have strengthened the checkpoints, especially at borders of Davao City),” Major Catherine Dela Rey, DCPO spokesperson, said in the interview with SunStar Davao on November 7, 2022.

Dela Rey said they also intensified their 24-hour checkpoints in the identified strategic areas to ensure security.

“Ginastrikto nato og tan-aw ang mga identity sa mga nilabay sa diha nga mga checkpoints. Gipa-intensify pud and intelligence para ma-prevent nato ning ing-ani nga mga panghitabo sa Davao City (We strictly monitor the identity of the passengers at the checkpoints. We also intensified intelligence to prevent this type of situation in Davao City),” Dela Rey said.

Meanwhile, to protect the bus drivers, Dela Rey urged them to only pick up passengers at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) because it is more secure compared to picking up in the streets or at previous pick-up points.

“This is to make sure nga tanang nisakay sa bus sa Davao City safe sila kay ang mga bagahe nga gisakay diha sa bus kay na-check (to ensure that all the passengers who have boarded in Davao City are all safe since we already checked their baggages),” Dela Rey said.

She said in case bus drivers will pick up passengers along the streets, passengers inside the bus can report them to DCPO so that they will be able to call the attention of the bus operators who violated the guideline. KSD
