THE 10th Infantry Division (10ID) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) assures that they will maintain the law and order in the different parts of Davao Region after it was declared insurgency-free.

“Giklaro sa division commander na gihatagan niya og assurance ang katawhan nga walay re-alignment of forces, walay ma-pull-out na detachment diria sa Davao Region (Our division commander gave the assurance and made it clear that there will neither a realignment nor pulling out of troops in the region),” Captain Mark Anthony Tito, AFP Spokesperson, said in an interview on the Davao City Disaster Radio on November 4, 2022.

He said after the region was declared “insurgency-free,” there were rumors from several communities that the army might pull out from the area.

Tito said another reason why they will not pull out their troops is to ensure the implementation of the projects under the National Task Force in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

“Ginabantayan nato nga ma-deliver gyud ang proyekto para didto sa mga recently declared areas nato, like sa pag-implement sa Barangay Development Programs (BDP) or projects, especially didto sa mga beneficiary sa BDPs, pati ang mga program sa gobyerno sa local na mahatod gyud (We have to ensure that the projects in areas that have are now free from insurgents will be delivered. This includes the implementation of the BDP and programs of the local government unit),” Tito said.

He said projects in insurgency-free areas – like the construction of roads, the establishment of schools and school buildings, as well as providing health services – will prevent the resurgence of the communist terrorist groups (CTGs).

Tito said Davao Region being insurgency-free is still in its infancy stage and there is a need to sustain it.

“Kinahanglan pa nato ma-sustain ang atong gains dire sa Davao Region, bago lang ta nag-declare og insurgency free. Sa karun wala gyud tay movement sa pag-pull out sa tropa (We need to sustain our gains in Davao Region because we were just recently declared insurgency-free. We will not be pulling out troops for now),” he said. KSD
