Alleged CTG member falls, yields guns, ammos

AN ALLEGED member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) was arrested at Barangay Talaon in La Libertad town, Negros Oriental by thethe military and local police at about 6 p.m. Sunday, November 6.

The military identified the one arrested as certain Tony Elod alias “Tonyo,” who is reportedly a Yunit Milisya member of Central Negros 1, Komiteng Rehiyon Cebu, Bohol, Negros and Siquijor.

Seized from Elod’s possession were a .38 caliber revolver with six rounds of serviceable ammunition, a home-made shotgun with built-in magazine, and six rounds of 12 gauge serviceable shotgun ammunition.

A military report showed that Elod was arrested at Sitio Mabato while the soldiers and the local police were chasing after the fleeing rebels whom they had a gun fight with in the nearby Guihulngan City.

Upon interrogation, Elod disclosed to the Unifier troopers that he was tasked by the escaping rebels to conduct monitoring on the location of the government forces for them to evade safely and was entrusted with the firearms and ammunition.

A follow up operation was conducted by the troops of 62nd Infantry Battalion that resulted in the recovery of one 357 magnum revolver, two .38 revolver, and one home-made shotgun at the area where Elod was arrested.*
