Kini ilang gibuhat human nila gipsakaan og kaso ang mga suspek nga sila si suspended Bureau of corrections director Gerald Bantag ug Bucor security official Senior Supt. Ricardo Zulueta.
Samtang wala gibaliwala sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang posibilidad nga usa ka tawo nga mas impluwensiyado kay sa gisuspenso nga si Bantag maoy utok sa pagpatay sa beteranong magsisibya.
Sa interbyu sa telebisyon sa Martes, Nobiyembre 8, 2022, si NBI supervising agent Atty. Eugene Javier niingon nga ilang gi-verify ang intelligence information bahin sa laing posibleng mastermind sa pagpatay kang Lapid.
“It was found through the investigation that both (Bantag and Zulueta) were behind the killing of both Percy Lapid and Jun Villamor (Palaña),” matud ni Javier.
Niadtong Lunes, Nobiyembre 7, gipasaka sa NBI ug Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mga reklamong pagpatay batok kang Bantag, Zulueta ug Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) Denver Batungbakal Mayores, Alvin Cornista Labra, Aldrin Micosa Galicia, ug Alfie Peñaredonda sa pagpatay kang Lapid niadtong Oktubre 3 sa Las Piñas.
