SOME of the brightest Kapuso stars have shared the reasons behind their smiles during their recent visit in the “City of Smiles” to personally see their supporters for the first time after over two years amid the prevailing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Following the success of the GMA Network’s biggest adventure-serye “Lolong,” its main cast Ruru Madrid said he is very happy that the show has brought inspiration to the viewers, especially to the youth.

Madrid recalled that “Lolong” was a very challenging project form as it has to pass through a lot of challenges, including delays brought by the pandemic.

“But it was all worth it. Sobrang saya this year,” he said, confirming that the series will have its second season next year.

Madrid said the blessings he received this year are the ones making him smile aside from his family and girlfriend, Bianca Umali.

Delighted Umali, for her part, said the very person who is making her smile everyday is her grandmother.

Umali, who is now being seen on All Out Sundays, said she is expected for what the future holds for her. “Excited ako sa maraming mangyayari,” she added.

The couple were with Derrick Monasterio and Elle Villanueva, who topbilled the just-concluded afternoon prime series “Return to Paradise,” during their Kapuso Fans Day at SM City Bacolod as part of the MassKara Festival celebration this year.

The four GMA Sparkle artists treated thousands of their Bacolodnons and Negrense fans in an afternoon full of fun that added excitement to the grand festivity.

Monasterio said the good feedback they received for their show is ultimately making him smile, aside from his family, fellow artists as well as the people behind “Return to Paradise.”

For Villanueva, the good ratings they received is the one making him smile.

“It was my first show, and ang hirap siyang gawin kasi na isla kami,” Villanueva shared, as she thanked all the staff for working hard for the show.

When asked about what they missed about Bacolod City, the people -- their warmth smiles, and the food are the top answers of the Kapuso stars.

“I always look forward na kapag bumabalik ako sa Bacolod, yung mga tawo knowing that it is the City of Smiles. Yung pagsalubong and pagkalambing ng mga taga rito, yung parang gusto nila tayong yakapin. I always go back and look forward to seeing the people here,” Umali said.

Madrid, whose last visit to Bacolod City was in 2018, said he always look forward to seeing the Kapuso fans who continue to support them.

“Now that unti-unti na tayong bumabalik sa normal, it’s our chance to give back the love and support that they’ve shown to us,” he added.

Aside from the fans, Monasterio said he missed and always looked forward to eating the city’s chicken inasal which for Villanueva is also something she should not miss.

Having been in Bacolod City for the first time, Villanueva said she heard a lot about the MassKara Festival and that she also looks forward to trying napoleones and seeing the smiles of the people here.
