Fisherman wounded, another unscathed in gun attack

A FISHERMAN was wounded while his companion escaped unscathed in a gun attack in the high seas of Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police reported Thursday, November 10, 2022.

Police Colonel Eduard Mallo, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, identified the victim as Nestor Felarca, 48. Unharmed was Ronnie Bermoy, 43.

Mallo said the incident happened around 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, in the seawaters off Kigay village, Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay.

He said investigation showed the two fishermen were fishing when an unidentified gunman aboard on a motorboat approached and shot them, hitting Felarca.

Felarca was admitted to the hospital for treatment, Mallo said.

He said investigation continues in a bid to establish the identity of the suspect who sped off after shooting the two fishermen. (SunStar Zamboanga)
