THE Talisay City Government is planning to collect environmental fees from the owners of vessels anchoring in the city’s waters.
City Councilor Lito Bacaltos, chairman of the Committee on Environment, however, said that they still have to pass a resolution authorizing them to collect taxes in order to increase the city’s revenue collection.
The amount of taxes that will be imposed has not been mentioned yet pending the creation of the resolution.
But Bacaltos assured that the taxes are not burdensome to the owners of sea vessels.
The Talisay City Government is also planning to train its Bantay Dagay personnel in line with its effort to maintain cleanliness of the city's coastline and ocean.
As part of the training, the Bantay Dagat personnel will be provided with new uniforms and the equipment that they needed in protecting the sea environment.
Since the Bantay Dagat task force is holding office in a private building in Barangay Cansojong,
Bacaltos said the city government is eyeing to relocate them, along with the Coast Guard personnel, to a building owned by the city government.
"So mao na ang atong mayor nangita ug pamaagi nga i-relocate sila uban sa mga sakop sa Coast Guard, i-join nalang sila para dali ang koordinasyon," Bacaltos said.
(So that's why our mayor is looking for a way to relocate them including the members of the Coast Guard, they will gather in one place for quick coordination).
Mayor Gerald Anthony "Samsam" Gullas and the City Council, however, are still looking for a building where the two sea enforcement groups would be transferred. (BBT, TPT)
