2 arrested in anti-drug stings in Zamboanga Sibugay

TWO people, one of them on the anti-drug watch list, were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, officials said Sunday, November 13, 2022.

Arrested were Kenneth Gabunilas, 24, listed as street-level individual in the anti-drug campaign, and Kenneth Deniega.

Police Colonel Eduard Mallo, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, said that Gabunilas was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 11:25 p.m. Saturday, November 12, in Purok Maypag-asa, Poblacion village, Malangas.

Mallo said seized from Gabunilas were some P2,482 worth of suspected shabu and P500 marked money.

Jury Rocamora, head of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Zamboanga Sibugay field office, said Deniega was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 1:50 p.m. Friday, November 11, in Purok Everlasting, Don Andres village, Ipil town.

Rocamora said seized from Deniega were some 10 grams of suspected shabu worth P68,000 packed in two heat-sealed plastic sachets, 34 pieces of counterfeit P1,000 bill used as boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 bill as marked money and a cellular phone.

The two suspects were detained while formal charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
