AN ORDINANCE proposed by Talisay City Councilor Danilo Caballero that seeks to create a task force against dangling wires in the city has been approved on first reading during the council’s regular session on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
According to Caballero, chairman of Committee on Disaster Resilience, the task force will be tasked to clear or entangle wires of telecommunication companies that hang above the streets once the proposed ordinance is approved.
Caballero said he came up with the idea to create the ordinance after receiving several complaints from residents regarding the hanging wires, which caused an eyesore and posed danger to large trucks, including those carrying container vans.
"Importante gyud kaayo nga mahatagan nato ni ug pagtagad kay ubay-ubay man nga niabot nga reklamo sa atong opisina mao na nga atong gibuhatan og ordinansa ni base pud na sa ordinance sa other cities like Quezon City, naa pud sila ordinansa sa anti-dangling wires nga angayan pud ma adopt sa dakbayan sa Talisay kay manag-sama raman ang problema," said Caballero.
(It is very important to give attention to several complaints that came in our office, that's why we created an ordinance patterned after the other cities like Quezon City’s Anti-Dangling Wires, which should also be adopted in the city of Talisay since we have the same problem.)
The ordinance, however, will be reviewed by the Committee on Laws, to see if there are some revisions that need to be done.
Once it becomes a law, among the barangays that would be prioritized in the clearing of “spaghetti wires” are Cansojong, particularly Rabaya Street, Tabunok and Poblacion.
Caballero said the task force will be composed of members of Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management team in each barangay with Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas as chairman. (BBT, TPT)
