The management of Jose Rizal University (JRU) has removed embattled forward John Amores from the Heavy Bombers basketball squad and has banished him from being part of any sports program of the school.

According to a report on GMA’s 24 Oras, the school has suspended Amores from his classes and has been ordered to undergo community service. This stems from the malicious incident on November 8 which saw Amores run amok and punch numerous players of St. Benilde with 3:22 remaining in their game.

“Contingent with this action: (i) all privileges accruing to Mr. Amores as a student-athlete have been canceled; and (ii) based on the Student Manual of the University, he has been further meted out the penalty of suspension from his classes and has been required to undergo community service,” read the statement released by JRU.

JRU added that it would provide counseling to Amores to help him deal with everything that is happening in his life right now. Amores finds himself in a heap of trouble as aside from the suspensions meted on him by JRU and the NCAA, he also has to face criminal complaints filed against him by St. Benilde players Jimboy Pasturan and Taine Davis — the two players he hit hard during that incident.
