‘Gallant’ Battalion celebrates 45th anniversary

MAJOR General Ignatius Patrimonio, commander of the Army’s 11th Infantry Division, has lauded the accomplishments of the 45th Infantry “Gallant” Battalion (IB) in its area of operations.

Patrimonio, who graced the 45th anniversary celebration of the 45IB on Monday, November 14, 2022, urged the Gallant troops to remain committed in their mission.

“You became a catalyst of change which was manifested through your concerted efforts with your partner stakeholders in the implementation of the Balik Barangay Program which resulted in the peaceful return of the internally displaced families to their respective homes. True enough, the 45th Infantry Battalion lived up to its anniversary theme, ‘Apatnapu't limang taong paggabay sa komunidad patungo sa kaayusan at pag unlad ng bayan,’” Patrimonio said.

“As you begin another chapter in your unit's proud history, I urge you to remain focused on our goals. I count on your untiring commitment and willingness to sustain our momentum on our peace, security, and development efforts in the province of Sulu,” he added.

During the activity, pinned the Gold Cross Medal to Sergeant John Christer Orden, Gawad sa Kaunlaran to Second Lieutenant Lady Deane Sarmiento, and the Military Merit Medals to Patikul Mayor Kabir Hayudini, Probationary Second Lieutenant Alfidzrah Marahail and Private First Class Al-Fadzni U. Murphy.

He also conferred the plaque of recognition to Mr. Julkipli Ahijon the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer and Engineer Nonoy Pawaki, Material Quality Control Division chief of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

“We celebrate an important milestone in the 45IB history as we look back over the years since the event we are marking and reflect on how it shaped us as Gallant Battalion,” Lieutenant Colonel Vicente Mabborang, 45IB commander, said.

“I commend the personnel of the Gallant Battalion for relentlessly pursuing the accomplishment of the mission of the battalion. Likewise, we honor our partners and stakeholders for the continuous support and collaboration which enables the unit to perform its assigned task in consonance with its great history. We need you as much as you need us,” Mabborang added.

Mabborang awarded the Best Officer to Second Lieutenant Reymar Lauron and Best Enlisted Personnel to Sergeant Basilio Acropen of the 45IB.

In his message of support, Hayudini conveyed his gratitude to the 45IB on its peace and development initiatives.

“The military has always been a strong partner of the Patikul LGU (Local Government Unit) , specifically the 45IB. May you continue to fulfill your duties with patriotism and hard work,” Hayudini said.

“Let us continue to work together to sustain our gains in the municipality of Patikul. To the brave men and women of the 45IB, let us all celebrate this occasion with the peace we are now enjoying,” Hayudini added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
