Hug, kiss, exchange gifts, laugh with glee, sing Christmas carols, nibble on ginger snaps, sip wine, raise the glass and celebrate what the season truly means — just like how it used to be. The hotels Christmas tree lighting was a nostalgic trip, from the Holiday look devoid of fancy trimmings yet tasteful and sophisticated that embraces the essence of a tropical seaside resort, the season’s tunes sang by a choir, a trip down memory lane with movies that warmed our hearts (while munching on popcorn), and gathering around the table for a hearty meal — the
people the gathering was intended for — the children of House of Hope.
Hearty is an understatement to describe what Chef Gilbert Banday and his culinary team prepared for the evening. Doing the Santa move would be the best way to describe the banquet — a ho-ho-ho eye-popping standing before the spread and the belly rubbing after-feasting moment.
What to watch out for on the Waterfront Holiday menu? The chef is putting a twist to a personal favorite, the Chicken Relleno, and there are several new savories that can brighten the table. You can either have it at Cafe Uno or take it home. On the dessert table, my not-so-sweet-tooth fell in love with the Chocolate Ensaymada. Perhaps it’s best to visit the Waterfront and discover for yourself what will make your palate tingle with delight.
Through the many Christmases Waterfront may have been bedecked with diverse and picture perfect Holiday ornamentations but one thing remained constant: the spirit is represented and who it’s all for – the children of House of Hope.
