AROUND 3,000 people with disabilities (PWDs) will be receiving three months worth of financial assistance from the Cebu City Government starting Friday, Nov. 18, 2022.

Dr. Ester Concha, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), said during the Panaghisgot Forum Thursday, Nov. 17, that qualified people with disability will receive P3,000 each.

This will cover the supposed P1,000 financial assistance for the months of August, September and October that was delayed due to the lack of funds, she said.

According to Concha, there are 13,339 people with disability in the city and to cover all beneficiaries, the distribution will happen simultaneously in all 80 barangays.

Requirements

The people with disability should also be physically present to claim the cash aid since the disbursing officer will not accept any authorization letter to allow other individuals to claim the money, she added.

The CSWDO will conduct a house-to-house distribution for bedridden people with disability.

Concha said that the beneficiaries will only have to present their original PWD ID to claim their financial assistance.

If the person with disability cannot claim his cash aid on Friday, he will still have a chance to get it at the City Treasurer’s Office in the City Hall until next week, she added.

CSWDO PWD focal person Flora Bering said that to register as a person with disability, the applicant must present a medical certificate to prove his disability. This is in accordance to Republic Act 9442, which amended the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons.

The applicant must also present a barangay certification attesting that he is a resident of Cebu City.

But to be able to receive the financial assistance, the applicant must be a registered voter of the city not later than 2013.
