OPERATIVES of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two bet collectors of an illegal numbers game in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the CIDG reported.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Rex Perocho, CIDG-Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Unit chief, identified the arrested bet collectors as Minda Largo, 49, and Melody Imbing, 45.
Perocho said Largo was arrested in an anti-illegal gambling campaign dubbed as Oplan Bolilyo around 7:16 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, in Purok Sili 2, Danlugan village, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
He said Largo was caught in the act engaging in illegal numbers game locally known as “swertres warik-warik” without authorization from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Confiscated from Largo were P100 marked bet money, a tally sheet, a cellular phone, a portable printer and a ballpen.
Perocho said Imbing was arrested around 7:42 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, in Purok Mahayahay, Dao village, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
He said Imbing was caught in the act receiving bet money from an undercover policeman.
Perocho said seized from Imbing were three P20 coins used as bet money, a tally sheet and a ballpen.
He said Largo and Imbing were taken to the CIDG-Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Field Office for documentation and proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
