Lacson: The Disney+ Hype

One of the reasons why we availed cable TV subscription a few years ago is because my kids really enjoy watching Disney Channel. Among their favorite shows to watch include Phineas and Ferb, Upin and Ipin, SupaStrikas, Miraculous Ladybug, and a whole lot more. And so when the Disney Channel pulled out from the Philippines last year, we were forced to give up our cable subscription since the primary reason for availing it was no longer available.

Finally, when the information about Disney+ will be soon available in the country, we were so excited that we bought a used smart TV since we were only using an android box or more popularly known as TV box. I initiated the purchase out of my fear that the Disney + app will not work using the TV box. I even joined a private Facebook group to be able to know the latest updates and information about the upcoming launch of Disney+.

Disney+ is not only meant for kids because as Disney acquired Marvel and Lucasfilm (basically Star Wars), subscribers will also be able to enjoy series and movies from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Star. Just the mere mention of these production houses will really blow our minds, right?

Before the official launch of Disney+ this November 17, people who wanted to subscribe needed VPN and a UD-based account to download the app to their android devices and TVs. According to Disney, Disney+ will be accessible on a wide selection of mobile and televisions subject to users’ chosen subscription plans, including smartphones and tablets (Android or iOS), smart TVs such as Samsung and LG and connected TV devices, including Google TV and other Android TV OS, Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD and Chromecast. There will be two tiers available, Mobile and Premium which are priced annually at P1,150.00 and P2,950.00 respectively.

Disney+ will launch with a huge collection of content from across Disney’s studios, including Disney+ Originals and exclusives like Marvel Studios’ WandaVision, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Moon Knight and Loki; Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor; Hocus Pocus 2 and the upcoming Willow and Disenchanted. Blockbuster films from Marvel Studios including Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will also be available and all 12 Star Wars movies including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker!

Of course Disney Classics lovers will enjoy the access to iconic Walt Disney Animation Studios’ movies including the Oscar-winning Encanto, the live action reimagining of Pinocchio, as well as animated classics including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Mulan, Raya and the Last Dragon, The Lion King, Zootopia as well as eartwarming and powerful storytelling from Disney and Pixar, including Lightyear, Turning Red, Soul, Luca, Coco, and more.

My kids are not the only ones who can't wait to watch! I guess I am even more hyped about Disney+ finally here in the Philippines for all of us to enjoy!
