CAGAYAN de Oro City will impose a temporary total ban of hogs and pork products from Zamboanga Peninsula on Saturday, November 19, 2022, the City Veterinary Office announced on Friday.
According to the City Veterinary Office, this is due to the latest national African Swine Fever (ASF) zoning status categorizing Zamboanga Peninsula as red zone.
"This is a crucial step to revive the hog industry in the city," the City Veterinary Office stated in its announcement.
"We are doing this to protect our city which was recently elevated from red to pink zone," the said office added.
