CASH incentives await athletes who will bring honor Davao City after the Davao City Council passed on the third and final reading of a city ordinance institutionalizing the reward system for Dabawenyo athletes and coaches.

“It is one way for the city government of Davao to thank them sa ilahang pagdala sa pangalan pud not just Davao City but the entire Dabawenyos gyud (in representing Davao City and the Dabawenyos). So we are very happy that finally it was approved and institutionalized,” Davao City Councilor Jaffar Marohomsalic, chairperson of the committee on youth and sports, said in an interview on November 22, 2022.

Marohomsalic said the athletes and coaches who were only endorsed by the City Sports Division will be eligible to receive the incentive.

Marohomsalic said athletes who joined the international regular competition of an individual category or with less than five members will receive P30,000 for gold, P20,000 for silver, and P10,000 for bronze.

While a team with five members or more will receive P50,000 for gold, P30,000 for silver, and P20,000 for bronze.

Also, in the team category, Davao City athlete teams who represented the Philippines will receive an individual incentive of P25,000 for gold, P20,000 for silver, and P10,000 for bronze.

“This category, the Philippine team, are the events that are sanctioned by the Philippine Olympic Committee which represent our country as the team Philippines, and also represent Davao City,” he said.

Marohomsalic said there are also incentives waiting for athletes who will compete in the national competition in the team category of not more than five members and the individual category will receive P15,000 for gold, P12,000 for silver, and P10,000 for bronze.

Also, teams with five members or more who will compete in the national tournaments will receive P25,000 for gold, P20,000 for silver, and P10,000 for bronze.

Meanwhile, athletes who competed in the regional competition in the team category of not more than five members and individual category is P10,000 for gold, P8,000 for silver, and P5,000 for bronze, while P15,000 awaits for gold medalist, P8,000 for silver and P5,000 for bronze for teams with five members or more.

The cash incentives will be subject to accounting rules and regulations. KSD
