The Dolphinz proved to be the steadier team down the stretch as they outlasted the erstwhile champions Pandas, 90-88, to hoist the championship in the BadBoyz Basketball Club Season 12 last Saturday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club basketball court.
The Pandas had the final possession, trailing 88-90, with 11 seconds left in the match. They even had several chances at grabbing the lead as Dexter Cabasan eluded his defender with a head fake before shooting a triple that rimmed out.
The Dolphinz got the rebound but the outlet pass was stolen by Pandas’ guard Matt Ravina who shot the potential game-winning trey that missed as time expired, giving the Dolphinz the victory and the title.
Season MVP Vernon Legaspi had 25 points to lead the Dolphinz, while Ariel Caruzca added 13 markers. John Rodrigo chipped in 12 points and seven boards.
The Pandas got 26 points and seven rebounds from Frederick Anabieza.
