18 Kapampangan seniors get P100-K each from Capitol

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda led the distribution of P100,000 of checks to each of the 18 Kapampangan senior citizens aged 95 and over the other day at the New Legislative Building inside the Capitol Grounds.

This is part of the Capitol’s "One-Time Senior Citizen Cash Incentive Award" program which aims to recognize the contribution of senior citizens to their respective communities as members of society.

Besides the check, the beneficiaries also received a certificate of recognition, in accordance with Provincial Ordinance No. 683, Series of 2014, or “An Ordinance Enacting the Senior Citizen Code of the Province of Pampanga.”

According to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), which is the lead implementing office of the program, only natural-born Kapampangan senior citizens aged 95 and above are qualified to receive such social cash privilege.

Initially, only those who have reached 100 years old are entitled to receive the incentive. Some P17 million in cash assistance has already been given out to at least 153 senior citizens 95 years old and above from 2020 to 2021.

For 2021 alone, some 114 seniors received cash aid worth P100,000 each. In the same year, the families of some 11 elderly who had died before receiving their checks were still accorded financial support.
