Kapampangan hero’s 108th birth anniversary commemorated

LUBAO The local government of Lubao, National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) commemorated yesterday the 108th birth anniversary of Jose B. Lingad.

A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the monument of the late veteran politician at the Museo ni Jose B. Lingad in Barangay Sta. Nicolas 1st here to mark the celebration.

NHCP Officer-in-Charge Carminda Arevalo said the commemoration rites is held annually to honor the Lingad’s life and leadership.

Lingad was a World War II veteran and served as governor and congressman of Pampanga before he was assassinated by an alleged member of the then Philippine Constabulary on December 16, 1980.

“Patuloy na inaaalala ng NHCP ang buhay at naging ambag ni Jose B. Lingad sa Pampanga at buong bansa para maipakilala at maging inspirasyon siya ng mga bagong henerasyon ng kabataan,” Arevalo said.

Jason De Guzman, grandson of Lingad, thanked the local government and NHCP for remembering their patriarch.

“Masaya kami sa pamilya na patuloy na inaalala hindi lang ang lolo namin, kundi pati ang ibang local heroes natin,” he said.

The commemoration rites was also attended by members of the Vice Mayor Jay Montemayor and local council.
