Vicelles vs. Suganob IBF title eliminator in Bohol on Feb. 25

THE all-Filipino International light flyweight world title eliminator between Mark Vicelles and Regie Suganob is all set for Feb. 25, 2023 in Bohol.

Both sides agreed to the date and venue world title eliminator, which would earn the winner a mandatory title shot at IBF light flyweight champion Sive Nontshinga.

Vicelles is handled by Omega Sports Promotions, while Suganob is promoted by Bohol-based PMI Bohol Boxing Stable.

“Yes, it will be there (Bohol),” Vicelles’ trainer Jinggoy Junco told SunStar Cebu. “The fight is still far away. So we’re just maintaining (his conditioning).”

Vicelles has been putting in rounds against some top quality sparring, the likes of highly-rated minimumweight Melvin Jerusalem, Esneth Domingo and Kit Ceron Garces.

The 26-year-old Vicelles had an impressive year so far with a pair of first round stoppage wins over Richard Calveras and Jaysever Abcede.

Suganob broke into the world rankings last year after a unanimous decision over Jerome Baloro to win the vacant IBF Youth light flyweight belt. He continued to impress this year with unanimous decision wins over previously unbeaten Indonesian Andika D’Golden Boy and Ricardo Sueno, and a first round knockout of Indonesian Asyer Aluman.

Vicelles is 17-0-1 with 10 knockouts, while Suganob is 12-0 with four knockouts.

Vicelles, ranked No. 4 by the IBF, was initially ordered to fight No. 3 rated Hector Flores but the latter begged off after a war with Nontshinga. Christian Araneta was next in line at No. 5 but he’s a teammate of Vicelles, which paved the way for No. 6 rated Suganob.
