MOST of the traffic violations in Davao City are illegal parking, the City Transport and Traffic Management (CTTMO) said.
Acting Division Head of CTTMO Leonardo Pamplona, on November 25, 2022, said during the Kapehan sa Davao at NCCC Victoria Plaza, that his office received numerous reports of illegal parking with some being issued citation tickets for parking in the wrong parking area.
“Gitikitan ka og illegal parking kay in a pay parking zone, dunay tay gina-designate nga bicycle parking, and for the motorcycle parking, there are motorcycles dili nila isulod sa box ilang igawas (Some were issued citation tickets while in a pay parking zone because they may be parking in an area designated for bikes. Others are also parking outside the parking box),” Pamplona said.
He said citation tickets are being issued to vehicles parking in areas not designated for them.
Meanwhile, Pamplona said some drivers may be victims of a modus of a parking boy who intentionally guides them to areas where they are not allowed to park.
“Pipi ni siya, maldito, modawat siyag mga kliyente nga motorsiklo, unya iyahang igawas ang naa sa pay parking box (This person is mute and can be mean. He would guide motorcycles to what seems to be a pay parking box),” Pamplona said..
Motorcycle owners who were victims of his modus have raised the concern to his office.
“After conducting [initial] investigation, kani pud ubang tao dili magpakabana pasagdan lang pud nila tong tawhana nga naa pud raket, moingon ra og ‘tinood sir, gi-transfer na ni Amang’ (After the intial investigation, we were able to confirm how this mute person was victimizing motorcycle drivers. This was also confirmed by some of the witnesses who were just watching the mute person victimize others),” Pamplona said.
As a result, CTTMO is calling on Davao City Police Office (DCPO) personnel to help them apprehend these parking boys.
DCPO spokesperson Major Catherine dela Rey said they are willing and ready to assist with this request.
“Andam ang DCPO Maam para mo assist sa CTTMO anytime about Ani na modus. In fact, naka assist na sad mi sa CTTMO atong naay ga kolekta ug parking fee diha sa may anda na dili taga CTTMO (We are ready to assist CTTMO anytime with regards to this modus. In fact, we also assisted them apprehending those people who claimed to be their personnel and have been collecting parking fees),” Dela Rey said. KSD
