A DRIVER and his helper died when they were electrocuted in Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental around 11: 30 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2022.

Lieutenant Colonel Gil John Despi, chief of Cadiz City police, identified those who were killed as Eddie Dejito, 49, of Hacienda Caridad in Barangay Rafael Barrera, Sagay City, and Ronnie Antojado, alias “Kalbo,” 26, of Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City.

Dejito was the driver and Antojado was a truck helper, Despi said.

Investigation showed that the sugarcane loaded in their truck tangled in an electrical post hanging from beside the road owned by Northern Negros Electric Cooperative.

“The live wire could have touched the truck making it grounded and causing the two to be electrocuted when they alighted from the vehicle,” Despi said.

The two died upon arrival at the Sagay City District Hospital, he said.
