2 houses go up in smoke in Kamputhaw fire

TWO two-story houses were razed when a fire struck Purok Lower 8, Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City, on Saturday night, November 26, 2022.

The houses were owned by Gonigonda Aum and one of them was occupied by her daughter-in-law Editha Aum.

According to FO3 Fulbert Navarro, duty investigator of the Cebu City Fire Office, they received the alarm at 9:34 p.m.

After firefighters arrived at the scene two minutes later, the situation was immediately raised to first alarm. The fire was brought under control in 12 minutes. Firefighters were able to completely put it out at 9:56 p.m.

Navarro said the fire started on the second floor of the house occupied by Editha before spreading to the adjacent house also owned by her mother-in-law.

He said the fire left around P1.6 million worth of damage.

Navarro said that based on their initial inspection, they found that there was only one wire connection in the two homes. (BBT, PJB)
