THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) turned over more than P6 million worth of financial assistance to beneficiaries of its Sustainable Livelihood Program in Lapu-Lapu City.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Maria Evelyn Macapobre, and DSWD Central Visayas Director Shalaine Marie Lucero led the distribution at the Hoops Dome Arena in Barangay Gun-ob on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
Mayor Junard Chan was also in attendance.
A total of 429 beneficiaries were expected to receive the financial assistance.
In a report from the Public Information Office, beneficiaries came from 18 sectors including persons with special needs, women's group, fisherfolk associations and 4Ps members, among others.
Chan said the assistance should help beneficiaries with their chosen livelihood or business, adding that if their lives improve they would no longer have to seek assistance from the City Social Welfare and Development Office or the mayor’s office. (IRT, PJB)
