Mayon moved on to the semifinals of the Architects + Engineers Island Premium Paints Cup 2022 with a dominant 81-45 win over Equip last Friday at the Metrosports Gym in Lahug.
Despite playing with just five players early on, Mayon leaned on their experience and cohesiveness to build a 39-23 halftime lead. They kept piling it on in the second half to come away with the huge 36-point win.
Ed Macasling had 22 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while big man Nathaniel Monzolin had 12 points and 11 boards. Mayon will take on Concretobond next in the semifinals this Friday at the same venue.
Meanwhile, Roof Kote bested Tex-a-Kote, 80-66, to also book a semis ticket against Super Kinis. Lawrence Gayotin and Noriko Benedicto carried Roof Kote to the crucial win as they scored 30 points apiece, with the latter adding eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals, and the former registering 12 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks.
