Paradise fire survivors receive assistance from Capitol

THE Cebu Provincial Government distributed assistance to 700 survivors of the fire that struck Sitio Paradise, Barangay Looc, Mandaue City on November 22, 2022.

According to the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office, each recipient received five kilos of rice, canned goods, drinking water and plastic water gallons with faucets. They also received hygiene kits that contained bath towels, laundry soap, sanitary napkins, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and health kits that contained alcohol, face masks and ascorbic acid.

The fire resulted in 670 families losing their homes.

Majority of the survivors are temporarily living in the barangay gym and the Cesar Cabahug Elementary School.

In line with the latest development, the Mandaue City Government signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development to build 14,000 housing units in Sitio Maharlika, Barangay Tipolo for the Paradise fire survivors, among others. (ANV/PJB)
