Sevilleno wins ONE Warrior Series, earns ONE Championship contract

CEBUANO warrior Adonis Sevilleno was crowned the winner of the “Globe Presents ONE Warrior Series Philippines” and earned a $100,000 contract in the ONE Championship.

Sevilleno beat 15 other promising Pinoy MMA fighters to win the reality series that was supervised by Team Lakay head Mark Sangiao along with ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio and former ONE flyweight titleholder Geje Eustaquio.

“There wasn’t any day that I gave to myself to rest,” Sevilleno said. “That’s because I really wanted to win this. I wanted to be a champion and take home the ONE Championship contract.”

Sevilleno impressed Sangiao, Pacio and Eustaquio in the two-round sparring session with tournament favorite Ariel Lampacan to win the reality series.

Aside from the ONE contract, Sevilleno also earned a spot with Team Lakay and will immediately be in action this weekend in ONE Championship’s return to the Philippines.

Sevilleno will take on former Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) bantamweight champion Drex Zamboanga in the undercard of ONE 164 – “Pacio vs. Brooks” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila.

Sevilleno last fought in 2019. He defeated Mark Gregory Vallerio by unanimous decision in URCC 77.

Zamboanga, on the other hand, has been very impressive thus far since being signed by ONE Championship. He won back-to-back fights in ONE Championship with a second round rear naked-choke over Detchadin Sorsirisuphathin and a first round knockout of Rahul Raju.

Sevilleno is 2-2, while Zamboanga is 13-5.

The main event of ONE 164 is a title defense of Pacio (20-3) against Jarred Brooks (19-2).

Also fighting in the same card are former ONE heavyweight champion Brandon Vera, Eustaquio, Jeremy Pacatiw, Jhanlo Sangiao and Jenelyn Olsim.

Vera (16-9) faces Amir Aliakbari (11-3), Eustaquio (14-8) locks horns with Hu Yong (9-4), Pacatiw (11-5) trades leathers with Tial Thang (3-1), Sangiao (4-0) goes against Matias Farinelli (4-0) and Olsim (6-3) is up against Meng Bo (19-6).
