A MOTORCYCLE mechanic who sidelined as motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) driver was shot dead around 11 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, in Sitio Kadasig Phase 3, Barangay Tisa, Cebu City.

Major Janelito Marquez, chief of Labangon Police Station-10, identified the victim as Mark Ramil Bayang, 30, a resident of Sitio Culo, Barangay Labangon.

The police learned from Mark’s father, Rodrigo Jaime, that the victim would always go to the area to repair motorcycles with his fellow mechanic who lives there.

Jaime narrated to the police that the victim was last seen on the same day at 8 p.m. when the latter asked money from him to buy medicine for his eyes that got irritated after it was hit by a ceiling fan, fed their doves and then left.

After that, he was just informed by a barangay tanod that his son was shot in Tisa.

Jaime immediately went to the crime scene along with the barangay tanod.

The Scene of Crime Operatives (Soco) recovered a caliber .22 revolver with four live ammunition and four packs of substance believed to be shabu from the victim.

The retrieval of evidence was witnessed by the victim’s father.

The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds in the different parts of the body and head.

Major Marquez said they will conduct a thorough investigation on the killing.

He said they received information that the victim had an argument with someone prior to the incident.

"Sa pagkakaron, ang atong tutokan lang sa kining iyang naka-away kon kinsa ni kay wala pa gyud tay pangalan kon si kinsa," Marquez said.

(For the meantime, we will focus on identifying the person he argued with.)

Jaime, meanwhile, said he had no idea of anybody having a grudge against his son. (BBT, TPT)
