THE second tranche of financial assistance for eligible senior citizens in Mandaue City worth P4,000 will be distributed on December 12, 13, and 14.
City Councilor Jimmy Lumapas, who also chairs the Committee on Social Services, shared the good news with SunStar Cebu on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Lumapas said the physical cash payouts would be within the barangay gyms in the city. Others would receive it via cash card through LandBank automated teller machines and other ATMs.
Meanwhile, he said the distribution for bedridden seniors will be done house to house.
Elderly residents getting the assistance via cash payout must bring one valid ID, together with their senior citizen ID.
Diosdado Suico, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (Osca)-Mandaue City head, said those who failed to claim their cash assistance within the respective distribution dates could go to the City Treasurer's Office from December 15 to 18 to get their cash.
Suico said there would be no extension dates right after December 18.
In May this year, about 24,000 registered senior citizens in Mandaue received their first tranche of financial assistance for P4,000.
The distribution, which was supposedly held in April, was delayed due to the election ban that prohibits local government units from spending public funds within 45 days before Election Day, from March 25 to May 8, 2022.
Suico said they are set to verify the exact number of eligible senior beneficiaries by Thursday, December 1.
Lumapas, however, did not confirm if they would be giving additional cash on top of the P4,000 allowance. (HIC)
