LAWMEN have served a warrant of arrest for 25 counts of frustrated murder with A total of P5 million recommended bail against an Abu Sayyaf bandit leader detained for kidnapping cases in the province of Tawi-Tawi, the police reported Wednesday, November 30.
Police Colonel John Francis Encinareal, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Zamboanga Peninsula chief, said the warrant of arrest was served against Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Injimar Mangkabong alias Bensar Jakari.
Encinareal said the warrant of arrest dated February 7, 2012 issued against Mangkabong by the court of Jolo, Sulu was served to the accused around 3:12 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, at the Tawi-Tawi provincial jail in Simandagit village, Bongao.
Encinareal said the court has set the bail at P200,000 for each count or a total of P5 million for the 25 counts of frustrated murder filed against Mangkabong.
Policemen arrested Mangkabong in a law enforcement operation on March 22, 2021 in this Zamboanga City.
He is a sub-leader under the group of Abu Sayyaf leader Idang Susukan operating in provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
Encinareal said Mangkabong was involved in the kidnapping of five Indonesian fishermen on January 15, 2020 in the vicinity of Tambisan, Sandakan City, Sabah and Filipinos in the provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. (SunStar Zamboanga)
