Solon offers P1M reward for info to arrest driver's killers

A CONGRESSMAN from Negros Oriental has offered P1 million reward to those who can give more information including the whereabouts of the suspects behind the murder of his driver, Juvanie Catubay.

Third District Rep. Arnulfo Teves, in a video posted on his Facebook Page on Tuesday, November 29, condemned the killing of Catubay and called on authorities for a swift resolution of the incident.

"A high-powered rifle killed my staff instantly. How come a civilian can carry such a weapon?" Teves asked.

Catubay was shot dead by two unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects around 2:30 p.m. Monday at Sitio Bunsod in Barangay Obat, Sta. Catalina.

The suspects and the motive for the killing remain unknown.

Initial investigation showed that Catubay was driving his motorcycle on his way home from Barangay Caigangan and stopped by the store of Rose Bie Casido when the suspects arrived and shot him several times, causing his instant death.

The Police Regional Office - Region 7 (PRO-7) will be assisting the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Norppo) in the investigation.

Witnesses told investigators that the gunmen, both wearing full masks and helmets, took the victim's motorcycle.

Recovered at the crime scene were empty shells of caliber 5.56 and caliber .45. firearms.*
