Lazatin orders police visibility

ANGELES CITY Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., has ordered for more police visibility in the city's streets particularly along Pampang Public Market and San Nicolas Public Market

This is to deter theft and robbery of business establishments and to intensify the rescue operation for homeless individuals in the city.

This was bared by Lazatin's Chief Adviser IC Calaguas on November 30 during his meeting with Angeles City Police Office Director Colonel Juritz Rara, six station commanders, officers from the city mobile force company and personnel from Angeles City Traffic Management and Enforcement Unit.

This, following reports of theft in public markets and convenience stores.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso, Angeles City Disaster Emergency Command Center Head Michael Lising, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon and Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego also attended the meeting.

Lazatin said with the increase in police visibility, business owners and the public will be encouraged to report theft and robbery incidents in their areas.

Calaguas said this initiative of Mayor Lazatin is aimed to ensure crime prevention, deploying the full force of the police along the streets especially in blindspots.

The city government has allotted a budget for the weekly gas allowance intended for the round the clock police presence.

The city has maintained a low crime rate since Lazatin took office, saying he wants to keep it that way.

“This effort of ensuring police visibility throughout the city will double our guard in safety and security,” Lazatin said.

The mayor also ordered the ramping up of the rescue of displaced families, homeless street children and mentally-challenged individuals starting this December thru the conduct of a series of city-wide inter-office rescue and saturation operations.

Lazatin said his goal is to prioritize the safety and welfare of Angeleños, ensuring that no one will stay out in the cold streets of the city, especially this coming holiday season.

Calaguas, with Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, will supervise the rescue teams formed from members of CSWDO led by Duaso; Angeles City Tourism Auxiliary headed by Lising; and personnel from ACPO.
