P8.1M illegal drugs burned

TO CONTINUOUSLY reduce the proliferation of illegal drugs in Davao Region, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao burned the evidence they seized during their legitimate operations.

Together with the Philippine National Police (PNP), drugs from various operations in the region were seized.

The burning of the seized drugs was held on November 26 at 9 a.m. at the Wood Haven Crematorium in Barangay La Filipina, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

According to PDEA-Davao, the activity was led by PDEA-Davao Director Aileen Lovitos, and Police Colonel Thor Valiente Cuyos, deputy regional director for Operation of PRO-Davao who represented Regional Director Police Brigadier General Benjamin Silo Jr.

A total of 514.0331 grams of shabu worth P7,196,463.40 and 7,637.0130 grams of marijuana with a value of P916,441.56, with a total worth of P8,112,904.96 were burned and destroyed during the event.

Also present during the event were Governor Edwin Jubahib, Provincial Governor of Davao del Norte; P/Col Antonio Alberio Jr., Provincial Director of the Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office; Prosecutor Virginio C. Juan II, Atty. Janess A. Blanco-Manipes, Chief of the Public Attorney's Office in Davao del Norte; and Teresita R Machete, RN, Chapter Administrator of the Philippine National Red Cross, along with other partner agencies.
