THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) warned those transporting firecrackers that they will not be allowed to pass through Davao City if they do not have the necessary documents.

“Definitely, may permit sila (they have a permit). So, hindi na namin pakialaman ‘yan (We will not question them) because there are also places here in Davao Region that have not implemented it, katulad ng Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur, they will be allowed as long as they have the necessary documents,” PCol. Alberto Lupaz, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director, said during the AFP-PNP Press Conference on November 30, 2022.

Meanwhile, he said violators who are residents of Davao City will be arrested in accordance with Davao City Ordinance No. 060-02 which prohibits the manufacture, sale, distribution, possession, or use of firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices and similar explosives in the city.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on December 1, 2022, the Police Regional Office Davao Region (PRO-Davao) reminded Local Government Units (LGUs) that fireworks displays should only be done in the designated area.

“‘Yong hindi nag-implement ng firecracker ban, they also have to coordinate with our Police Offices, kasi kasama din po tayo dito, since tayo po ‘yong nagi-implement ng ordinansa nila (For those LGUs who are not implementing the firecracker ban, they should coordinate with us since the city will help them in implementing their ordinance),” PMaj. Eudisan Gultiano, PRO-Davao spokesperson said. KSD
