THE Bacolod City Police Station 3 is facing difficulty in identifying the suspect behind the killing of an alleged drug personality at Purok Kawayanan, Barangay Banago in the city on November 30, 2022.

Captain Armilyn Vargas, commander of Police Station 3, said yesterday, December 1, that they have no lead yet on the identity of the suspect in the killing of Jerol Marcellana, 28, a resident of the said village.

Vargas said they have no witness, and there was no closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed near the crime scene.

The police are still gathering evidence to determine the identity of the suspect, she added.

Investigation showed the victim was sitting in an alley near a computer shop when the suspect approached and fired at him.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, but he did not survive.

Police recovered from the scene of the crime four empty shells of unidentified firearms.

Vargas said the suspect, who was wearing a jacket and helmet, then fled.

“Possibly, the suspect only parked his motorcycle near the area and walked towards the victim,” she said.

While he was wounded, she added, Marcellana managed to run but he fell to the ground.

Authorities are eyeing grudges and illegal drugs as possible motives in the killing of the victim.

Vargas urged those who may have knowledge in the killing to surface and shed light on the incident.*
