A MEMBER of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) in Borbon, northern Cebu, died after he was run over by a wing van while driving his motorcycle along the national highway in the town’s Barangay Clavera on Thursday morning, December 1, 2022.

Arsenio Sinadhan, 55, married, a resident of Kabulihan, Barangay Bongtod, Borbon, was declared dead on arrival (DOA) at the town’s hospital due to severe injuries.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Eulogio Bughao of Borbon Police Station said in an interview with SunStar Cebu that the victim was driving his Honda XRM 125 motorcycle toward south, while the Isuzu wing van driven by Norly Marinda, 52, of Quezon City, was following him.

Marinda, who came all the way from Manila to deliver plastic products to a store in Cebu City, was reportedly overtaking when he hit the victim’s motorcycle, which then crashed into the car parked along the roadside.

Due to the impact, the victim was thrown off his motorcycle and run over by the moving truck.

"Wa daw siya nakabantay nga naigo na diay ang biktima. Nagdali lagi kay mag-deliver," Bughao said.

(He didn't notice that the victim had been hit. He was in a hurry to deliver.)

The police said the truck driver might have been tired because of long travel, thus he miscalculated when he overtook.

The driver is temporarily put under the custody of Borbon Police pending the filing of charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property against him. (GPL, TPT)
