THE Danao City Government, police, Dunggoan village officials and Republic Cement Danao inked an agreement and unveiled a marker on November 29, 2022 as they aim to help the children of Isla Verde.
Isla Verde is a small community in Danao City where children need to cross the sea to be able to study at a daycare center located in the city proper. This discouraged some parents from sending their children to school, as some of them said they better go out to fish to survive.
With this, officials of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) called for the establishment of a daycare center in the island considering also the increasing population in Isla Verde.
The CSWDO believes that the City Government has active day care workers and programs for the children.
The City Government, in response, collaborated with Republic Cement Danao, Barangay Dunggoan and a building owner to provide an area where the daycare center can be built.
At present, Danao City has 61 child development centers in its 42 villages. (ANV/LMY)
