THE Department of Tourism (DOT) is looking into adding local delicacies as one of the mandatory requirements for the accreditation of tourism enterprises in a bid to promote culinary tourism.

“We are looking at how to incorporate that in the accreditation requirements. It can be an incentive that we offer, like sa hotel and resort, for example, ‘yong mga welcome drinks natin are fruits from the destination and the locale (like for hotels and resorts, for example, they can offer welcome drinks feature fruits from the destination and the locale),” OIC-Usec. for Tourism Development Verna Esmeralda C. Buensuceso said during the Kaon na, Kain pa Press Conference at Seda Hotel on December 2, 2022.

Buensuceso said they are also reviewing their accreditation requirements following the advice of DOT Secretary Christina Frasco.

“One of the main objectives of her administration is also to capitalize on the Filipinization of the experience of tourists, kasama ‘yong food and gastronomy (including the food and gastronomy),” Buensuceso said.

She added that they want the tourists to experience different food and services as they visit other regions in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, DOT invites Dabawenyos to have a taste of the different delicacies of each region from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao as they have opened Kaon na, Kain pa! A three-day food and travel festival in Ayala Abreeza Mall of Davao. KSD
