LAWMEN have recovered some P30,200 smuggled cigarettes in a remote village in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Sunday, December 4, 2022.
Police Lieutenant Roy Malayo, Sibuco police chief, said the smuggled cigarettes were recovered around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, December 3, in Nala village.
Malayo said they were conducting intelligence-driven checkpoint operations against wanted persons when they discovered a black bag containing assorted smuggled cigarettes.
Malayo said recovered were 68 reams of assorted smuggled cigarettes with an estimated worth of P30,200.
He said investigation continues to determine who owns the abandoned smuggled cigarettes which were placed under the custody of Sibuco Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
